Area Resources for Seekers
SPAFER members are diverse in their spiritual journey. They are
on a quest for a better understanding of their religious beliefs
and of a fuller meaning of life. They often ask advice about what
religious denomination or institution they should visit and possibly
affiliate with. This page will provide a list of places suggested
by SPAFER members that offer an open-minded and accepting setting
for the discussion and study of religious issues. SPAFER does not
endorse any of these, but rather we provide this page as a kind
of "clearing house", a list of those settings where our
members have found a spiritual home, possible settings to explore
and share theological and religious readings, ideas and opinions
with other accepting and open-minded seekers. Please contact SPAFER
by email or telephone if you have suggested settings to be added
to the list.
Mid-South Resources
In the Atlanta area, there the Emergent Spirit group. In their own words, they are "a spiritually-rooted community adult education
center in the Atlanta metro area. Through seminars, conferences, retreats,
and special events and services, and with roots in the progressive and mystic-
contemplative dimensions of the Christian tradition, we will explore an
emerging spiritual vision for the new millennium which seeks to move beyond
biblical literalism, dogmatism, and exclusivism, and into an open, pluralistic
Christian spirituality honoring diversity and difference, and in honest,
respectful dialogue with all the world's great religious traditions."
